On 24 April, we hosted an event at our Little Island site in Cork, welcoming media, stakeholders, project partners and investors to showcase the progress of our new biomethane facility, currently under construction.
The event marked an important milestone for the project following the first year of construction and provided attendees with an opportunity to tour the facility, learn more about the development, and the environmental and economic benefits it will deliver for Ireland.
The day saw an excellent turnout, with more than 40 attendees including representatives from Gas Networks Ireland, Bord Gáis Energy, Coffey Group, Kanadevia Inova, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Pioneer Point Partners, feedstock suppliers, and representatives from the EPA, Cork University and local government.

Once operational in 2027, the plant will process approximately 90,000 tonnes of domestic and industrial food and garden waste annually, converting it into 80 GWh of renewable biomethane for injection into Ireland’s national gas grid. The facility will become Ireland’s largest biomethane plant processing municipal food and garden waste.
The project will make a significant contribution towards the Government’s 2030 targets under the National Biomethane Strategy and will support Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon, circular economy by diverting organic waste from landfill and transforming it into renewable energy.
The biomethane produced at the facility will supply enough renewable gas to meet the annual heating demand of approximately 6,000 homes. The project is also expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 40,000 tonnes of CO₂e annually, equivalent to removing around 17,000 cars from the roads.
